"Not the boss of me ..."

"Not the boss of me ..."
Little Miss was three years old when her parents left her with Aunt and Uncle to babysit. They dropped her off, provided the sitters with necessary instructions and contact information, and exchanged hugs and kisses before they bolted out the door for a kid-free evening.
No sooner did the door close when Little Miss laid down the ground rules.
"Don't tell me 'No.'"
"And, don't put me in timeout."
Fair enough. Glad she set that straight!
I understand how she feels. There are instructions that I would like to lay down for my computer.
Don't tell me "Error."
And don't timeout.
What is it with technology?
I'm so much better than I was years ago, yet there are days when I would rather have pen and paper in hand.
Today, in an important meeting, I fire up my laptop, insert the thumb drive, pull up my document, and prepare to type. I hit the first key. Nothing. I hit another key. Again, nothing. There is a message, "... you cannot ... not allowed ... restricted ..." What!?
I try to open the document a different way; I try opening a new document. The same message. I switch to another program. Yes! I can type. Wait. I can't save the document. Wait, what!?
My laptop is not the "boss of me."
I fire up my hot spot, pull up my email, and copy/paste my notes into a message that is now safe and sound. Take that!
Don't tell me, "No."
And, don't put me in timeout.
