Epiphany 2018
Epiphany, January 6
"Epiphany: a moment when you suddenly feel that you understand, or suddenly become conscious of something that is very important to you." (Cambridge English Dictionary)
Epiphany is also the 12th day of Christmas, which commemorates the star that led the Magi to baby Jesus.
"All things bright and beautiful, All creatures great and small, All things wise and wonderful" filled my year of epiphany in 2017. It's been one year since I started a year of discovery and shared my first LowTide post:
VOYAGE OF DISCOVERY
"The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes." - Marcel Proust
Like most inquiring minds, my voyage of discovery began soon after the day I was born. During childhood, I inherited an interest from my grandparents in gardening. A sixth-grade field trip to Bellingrath Gardens crystalized my interest in gardening--the Japanese Garden, filled with streams, arched bridges, tea houses and Japanese lanterns, sparked a young love affair. Years later, I discovered the Cooperative Extension Service and became a certified Master Gardener. I further formalized my interest with a degree in Environmental Horticulture from Gwinnett Tech.
Several of my favorite years were spent under the employ of the UGA Cooperative Extension Service where the pleasure of photojournalism revealed itself; one of my assignments was writing horticultural and gardening articles for the local paper--my second love affair. Since then, I've informally explored the world of writing.
On New Years Day January 2017, I adopted a focus for the year (in lieu of a resolution): discovery. The image that I shared on New Year's Day was of Lake Peachtree while it was under 'renovation.' After a period of time, I found the drained basin intriguing. It took on the effect of a South Carolinian marsh and revealed contours and patterns that were hidden from sight when the lake is full. I discovered a different and intriguing beauty when seen through new eyes.
LowTide expands opportunity to literally and metaphorically walk a beach and discover with new eyes treasures previously hidden from sight. I trust you will find the delight of discovery when seeing with new eyes.

I look forward to seeing 2018 through new eyes.
