Gullah Grub
We made it.
On recent trips to Lands End SC, we finally are checking out the places that previously called our names: Port Royal boardwalk, the Penn Center, and Gullah Grub. https://lowtideexplorer.blogspot.com/…/09/are-you-ready.html
Chef Bill Green owns and operates the Gullah Grub restaurant in Frogmore. A sign hanging in his cafe reflects his passion, "I don't know why or how it came to me to grow Carolina Gold so well. Must be the spirits of my ancestors speaking to me - through my head, heart and hands." Carolina Gold was once the most popular rice grown in America.
The Gullah Grub menu includes Locountry chicken gumbo, fish chowder, fried shrimp, fried shark strips, BBQ ribs, and BBQ chicken.
We sat down to a delicious Gullah lunch that began with cornbread and Chef Bill's version of Swamp Water and finished with barbeque, fried shrimp, and greens. Oh, how food tastes better when prepared with passion and a smile.
What is calling your name? What is speaking to you through your head, heart, and hands?
